So. It’s rainy and slushy outside today… Don’t let it get to you, as you’re about to get a dose of warmth and coziness, almost as magnificent as a fireplace readily lit up when you come home drained from work… Or a bath in candlelight.
In the form of knitwear, I mean. Chunky, romantic, crochet… You CAN look lovely whilst keeping yourself warm all the way to your toes. Here are some photos I’ve collected for my rainy day inspiration.

Another big-time favorite look... I've got a dress very much like this by Kristiina Viirpalu but those little black gloves would be an icing on the cake.... Ok, also the Vuitton suitcase adds a certain something. Thanks Unjung Jun for the idea-I'll definitely go for the gloves at least.

This makes me think of my Hanski, who is responsible for everything practical existing in our household. She has personally knitted all woollen socks & gloves my kids & I possess, and some quilts in addition. So. Even though she currently lives in Holland, she still keeps us all warm. I'm so lucky to have her.
Feeling a little warmer already?
Rainy day kisses to all my lovely readers,
from LadyBohemia

Ok, all you men out there… I know some of you read my blog but feel free to pass on this post.
For no man will ever understand the passion with which a woman can love her handbag.
My black beauty has a few battle scars left from those who haven’t treated her with love and care but hey, so do I…
My vintage dealer offered to change the metal chain as it’s a little faded but I actually prefer it this way. Flaws and all.
I have a little tip for you… Vintage is totally underappreciated in Cannes where all things blingy, shiny and new are in, whereas in cities like Paris it’s very sought after. Therefore, you can find real treasures in the South for a fraction of what you’d end up paying in Paris.
My favorite boutique owners in Cannes have even studied my little blog to understand my style and to have things to match it in store when they know I’m coming – if I don’t call them in advance they actually send those treasures to Paris.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a huge-budget buyer. But we share a love for all things old and beautiful that makes business a real pleasure.
Sometimes I even think that Eric and Fabio – owners of the best vintage boutique in Cannes – are almost as happy as I am when they find me just that perfect little piece that I’ve been searching for during years and years…
Now they’re on the lookout for a perfect beaded 20’s charleston dress…♥.

You can dance anywhere, even if only in your heart.
Today I have worked very hard on something that is both very important and extremely scary to me. A chance I owe myself to take. Although I still don’t know where I’ll find the courage to it.
I wanted to share this lovely wild picture by Unjung Jun with you – today it has helped me relate with a phrase so real:
No guts, no glory.

I’m not the most organized of people. So I found this collage from the net, for inspiration… This is how I dream my to-do list to look like (especially on the eve of a winter vacation):
But, being me, it’s slightly more scattered, messy, over-the-top overlapping hurdle… Like so.
Clearly it’s time for an Engel moment. A peaceful quality moment with me, myself and I, and a hot cup of Engel’s lovely house tea.. Followed by a blizzardy walk for long, long sweaty session of hot yoga.
My secret weapons that always work for clearing an unruly mind.

All is well, just remember that, especially when it’s not.
Life has a way of taking care of itself.
– Viktor Egelund –
So comforting. Even true, I think.

One of my favorite quotes is from a poem by Märta Tikkanen:
“Tämä ei kohtaa meitä rakkauden puutteen
vaan rakkauden epätoivon tähden”
Märta Tikkanen, Vuosisadan rakkaustarina
I haven’t found an English translation of the book so I apologize in advance for the injustice my shabby translation does to these words, so dear to me…
“this doesn’t fall upon us for the sparseness of love
but for the despair of it”
The book is a real-life tale on all-engulfing passion, love, and despair so deep that at the end it overtakes… everything.
Not a happy love story, but so real you can taste it.
Märta says of husband Henrik, after his death:
“I miss him, often. But not even for a moment have I wanted him back.”
The quote above I can relate to. This latter one, no.
I guess I have to live a little more to reach those depths… But to tell you a secret…
I hope I never will.

There are days when a woman needs something soft between herself and the world.
Warmest thanks to Divine Duchess Hannele, for grasping my mood way before I did…♥.

I thought I was rolling with the punches life’s thrown on my path more or less okay.
Until yesterday.
When out of nowhere, I fainted.
In the audience of a crowded theatre no less.
I was alone so maybe it took some time for people to notice… But when they did all hell broke loose. Ambulance came. I had to go with them. How spectacularly embarrassing.
Finally, one of the ambulance guys listened as I told him of some of the hardships I’d faced recently. And that I’d again forgotten to eat and all that. So he was sweet and instead of forcing me to go to the hospital, he escorted me to my train. Wishing me the best of luck.
A warm thanks to you, kind stranger.
OK. This was a wake-up call, even for me. Life must change. Drastically, and now.
Would you send some good wishes to accompany my path???
I think I could use them.
The play was actually fascinating; The Vagina Monologues by Eve Ensler. It’s played all around the world on Valentine’s day under theme “V-Day Until the Violence Stops”. The performances raise awareness and gather money to end violence against women and girls.
I feel so incredibly stupid for not having seen it all.
But even that doesn’t erase the fact that what I did see was deeply moving, inspiring and thought-provoking.
Important topic, beautifully delivered.
