Everything in the universe has rhythm. Everything dances.”, says Maya Angelou.

I was thinking about this wisdom today as I took my son to school. And indeed. I’d never noticed it, but the leaves were dancing. Wind too. Little children definitely had rhythm and dance to their steps as they were hopping along.

The only thing that seemed to have lost all flow and rhythm was… me.

I was just slouching along, taking care of stuff that has to be taken care of. How boring. How tragically adult.

So now I’m off for a little walk on the sunshine. Let’s see if that would help me find some spring to my steps…

~* Serenaded *~

Today has been a real full-day serenade… It seems like the whole world has woken up to realize that it’s my birthday.

I’ve been spoiled, spoiled and yet again spoiled.

I’ll show you some photos of my day a little bit later – at the moment I’m still too busy living it…♥.

PS. So… My day started by Happy Birthday songs and breakfast in bed, continued by surprises such as theatre and restaurant, and a shower of sweetest gifts ever.

… And ended in the bath, surrounded by candle light.

At the end of my beautiful day the only problem in the world remaining was a rhetoric question:

“Is it real or imaginary, that champagne actually tastes better in a bath?”.

♥♥♥ Thank you, Thank you, Thank ♥♥♥

Who gets to have a chapter in your little red book?

Are there people who are soooooo good to you that they’re present on all your pages?

These are questions I’ve been musing over today…

So it’s been confirmed. Me and the kids will spend the full summer in Provence. I’ll keep you posted on life over there, real Peter Mayle fashion.

Here’s a little purchase I’ve made for this trip, especially. Something light, comfy, slightly transparent but not toooo much so… MmmmmmmmMmm. By the lovely Oona Elena ♥♥♥. Perfect for a summer in the sun. And my lovely ladies Noora and Hanski might come and spend some time with us.

Poolside lounging, bronzing and total relaxation is in the cards with Noora… We’ve already planned to have a real girlie holiday, going to the gym, sleeping in the same bed in our room upstairs and talking girl stuff all night….

Hanski, I’ll take all around the area by Mamie’s little white car, as it’ll be her first time in the South. Touring and discovering little picturesque villages, lovely restaurants and the nicest places outside the tourist circles…

The kids will be totally relaxed as usual there, and play in Mamie’s pool all day long… There’s also pony rides and tennis lessons in the cards this time.

Ah, it’ll be so good.

Today, I got lost at Pintrest and found some lovely ideas for summer garden parties:

This picture looks a bit weddingly, but you can adapt the decoration... I love using ivy (muratti?) with branches swaying softly in the summer breeze..

Just a few lanterns with some flowers, crystals and/or pearls… It doesn’t need to be complicated, they can all be different (in fact I even prefer it that way…), or you can have just one or two.

Easy! I already have the recipe for the best chocolate cake in the world, and like to serve it with real flowers in this style…

If it’s worth the effort of arranging a garden party, it’s definitely worth the effort of carrying a real table outside (instead of using some horrid plastic one). Alternatively, you can have it easy – like I do – and opt for some vintage French or Danish wrought-iron tables and chairs which can stay out all summer. They just get more charming with a bit of rust.

I've got little glass lanterns like this; in the winter I light up tiny candles in them, in the summer I replace them with a single blooming flower. So lovely.

You can be as industrious as you like with other furniture (this is the point where your husband starts to suggest calling off the whole party…)

But in the interest of family peace, all it really takes is imagination, candles, flowers (picked from your own garden?),  and maybe a vintage tablecloth.

Below inspiration for keeping it simple without compromising the charm:

In fact, you don’t even need to have a garden for a party like this. We don’t, but I try to throw a little party of this spirit on our terasse every summer…

All you really, really need, are your friends.

~* Soul of Maïa *~

I bought myself a little something last week, in the honor of the International Women’s Day…

A sweet necklace of silverbeads and semi-precious stones by the Soul of Maïa.

These mistysoft stones are Jaspises; the shade is called Lotus. Jaspis is supposed to soothe anxiety and distress, as well as strengthen a sense of inner security and peace.

My sons chose the necklace with me, or for me actually. They sure know what they’re doing.

I’ll wear it with this long breezy cotton maxidress in the summertime. I’ve even got flip-flops decorated with Lotus-colored beads somewhere…

And it’ll be perfect with my Everyday Sugar coat and Zara boots as well… Or what say you?

The boys also chose these roses for me:

And here’s a little tip for you.

When your flowers (roses, particularly) start to seem a bit “down”, cut off the rosebuds and place them in a shallow bowl, like I’ve done above, with a drop of water at the bottom.

They’ll bloom still many more days like this, and oftentimes dry beautifully as well…♥.

~* Heavenly *~

That little moment when everybody else has fallen asleep… A little blogger can hear her own thoughts… Maybe even note down a few…

On that moment, it doesn’t matter if the paintings are lopsided, odd pieces of clothing are scattered here and there, or that the chairs around the table are all different…

Candle light does matter. As does a scented cup of hot tea.

That’s all it takes.

I’ve collected some personal favorites of mine here for you…

A sweeeeet bohemian piece of ankle jewellery. I just love this; will try to find someone to make one for me…

20’s inspired dress, sultry ‘n sweet

A beautiful piece of vintage jewellery…Ah.

Pearls, carried with attitude… Like so.

MmmmmMmmm… a bandanna for flowy wavy summer hair…

My inspiration for today came from these little touches, found from here & there and everywhere…

Hope they bring a little dance into yours steps this Monday…♥

There’s a huge auction ongoing (12.3.2012, 12->) at Bukowski in Stockholm at the moment… Everyone can participate over the net (www.bukowskis.com ) or over the phone… Dangerous.

There are many pretty pieces but these antique earrings are the most beautiful item I spotted:

I think the phone lines are still open for all you vintage & antiques lovers out there…

…watching the lovely romantic movie Before Sunset. Again.

I know I’ve written about it before… What can I say. This movie just gets under my skin… The romance of it is real, instead of the usual sugarcoating.

So real, that all by my myself, I’m secretly believing in Jesse and Celine…

So if you ever doubt the existence of poetic justice in this universe, try Before Sunset. (First, you absolutely must see Before Sunrise – and be 10 years younger when seeing it – then the “sequel” Sunset, 10 years later).

Works for me, every time…♥.

Celine: Baby, you are gonna miss that plane.

Jesse: I know

Post Scriptum: I’ve loved Julie Delpy since Kieslowski’s White. Ethan Hawke since the Dead Poet’s Society. And here these two Moonbeams have actually written the script, together with friend & director Richard Linklater. Making a little small budget piece of art with grit, biting reality, soulmates. Conveying the love of a lifetime without so much as a kiss.(Ok I’ve got nothing against kissing… But here it works).

Ah.
