An absolute must, Liberty is the oldest department store in London, one that I shamefully discovered only 25 years after my first visit to London. Packed with old-school charm and character, an antique jewellery collection, wooden floorboards, rare fragrances, flowers, royally gorgeous stationary, divine vintage boutiques (yes, several!), original staircases dating some 100 years back… If a department store can have soul, Liberty’s is the one.

IMG_4339

I instantly fell in love with this beautifully beaded 1920’s Charleston dress… An original piece, yet in such pristine condition that you could just hop dancing on tables wearing it…

Immediately after, I found myself unfaithfully drawn to this spring green emerald vintage Valentino gown… Luckily, it wasn’t my color as it wasn’t quite my budget either.

IMG_4324Swooooooon.

IMG_4322A summer garden party, anyone?

IMG_4323My little stroll in the vintage boutiques got worse and worse – well better and better actually. I could just see myself strutting towards the beach somewhere in the South of France next summer in these soft, comfortable, pretty little kitten heels below… Stopping for a glass of rosé on the way perhaps… Grrrrrrr. Again, it was budgetary matters that separated me and these rosa sandals from our summer romance.

IMG_4329I’ve always wanted a bedside table made of old suitcases piled on top of each other. This one would have been perfect on my bedside… Packed with all those books on my to-be-read list, waiting for bedtime…

IMG_4331And… For the Modern Vintage Bride. What a wow factor just shoes and gloves can create. This one’s not for me, but perfect for somebody.

IMG_4332So, my dear readers, next time when in London, don’t make the mistake of missing Liberty’s. If you’re even a little bit of a fool for rare beauties with character, it’s guaranteed to make you swoon too.

Kisses from your very own

How can I summarize the visual fireworks we experienced? Nope, I can’t.

Perhaps these photos will let you in on something exciting, enticing, inviting… A week of fun, a week of play. Something as sweet and carefree as is this picture.

IMG_4810A week of elegance it was, also.

IMG_4606

An unforgettable week of new horizons. So many things I realized, found, discovered. Around and inside myself.

IMG_4578Somerset House. Like an ancient palace, so vibrant with life. I loved this place.

IMG_4622

IMG_4604

And the Hippy Princesses, the Punk Ladies, the Oriental Orchids, all those fashion scouts, bloggers, journalists, tv-crews, designers… I could have sat there in Somerset House all day, just taking it all in.

IMG_4727This lady below ooooozed such effortless chic glow that all the photographers just made a run for it when she walzed in…

Did I mention the quirkyest shoes? They made a grand entrance as well.

IMG_4651London proved it… Shoewise, I’m hopelessly unfashionable.

IMG_4619

Finally, a little something familiar..

IMG_4617Something icy cool, that’s what these ladies were..

How can I summarize this experience that was the Fashion Week? It feels like trying to put London into words. Impossible.

Something out of boundaries. New, raw, edgy, even rough. Eversoslightly punk. Experimental, somewhat out there.

Bold, rather than pretty.

It’s so easy to breathe in London. Everything goes.

It happened to me again… Life got on the way of blogging.

There are so many fun, sweet, touching, hilarious photos and moments I’d like to share with you, starting with everything that happened during the London Fashion Week… But there has been so much going on that I find it hard to keep up with my life.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining…  That’s just the say I love it.

So, this gorgeous red veil leads to the entrance of the Valentino exhibition at Somerset House, the heart of the Fashion Week.

Today’s actually the last chance to catch this exhibition! How fitting.

So, anybody in London… A little tip for the day… Go see this one, and bring a good book to entertain you in the queue :).

This one is pure girly stuff…

My darling friend Oona Elena Kassila flew all the way from Barcelona to Helsinki for the last fitting of the Bohemian Princess Rose Cradle Dress I had requested her to design for me. The following day the dress flew to London to attend the London Fashion Week… AND got photographed by Vogue, among other adventures…

IMG_3924

Dear readers, welcome to the making of my most beautiful dress, ever:

IMG_4013

*

IMG_4022*

IMG_3928Mmmmmmm…. Some refreshments were required and shall I say earned, with all those sleepless nights spent while making this dress divine…

IMG_4042Oona worked on the dress for 80 hours, before she stopped counting… Every single silver chain, each pearl, every bit of vintage lace is personally sourced and chosen with love and care, then the dress itself… Handmade in Heaven.

IMG_4054Oona’s artwork. She rocks my world and you can see why.

IMG_4079*

IMG_4080*

IMG_4083I can not tell you how much it means to me, how fortunate I feel,  to have been involved in such creative and artistic process – not to mention how much fun we had – but maybe these photos tell their story more poignantly than I could..

IMG_4103*

IMG_3923 xDetails details… This dress is filled with secret details all around.

IMG_4065*

IMG_4077Luxury dupino silk, French velvet in brocade as the slip… Too beautiful and absolutely unique.

If you’re into treasures and wonder, Oona’s clothing and her partner Mo’s jewellery can be found at Moonalia etsy shop.

It can’t possibly get more Rita Hayworthesque than this…

IMG_4425This divine little vintage shop along Portobello road was actually so small and so full of treasures that they were able to only let a handful of customers in at a time! I’ve never seen that before… People would ring the doorbell and wait outside in a queue 🙂 .

IMG_4426Most of the treasures came from France, as did Emmanuelle the owner, who kindly took these photos. Thank you Emmanuelle!

IMG_4423Look at that lamp shade! Art deco?

IMG_4429One pair of vintage silver and marcasite earrings left home with me – an even more beautiful pair than the one above – as well as the antique 1920’s shawl in shimmery old rosa velvet below… The shawl carries so much charm with it that photos just won’t do it justice ♥.

IMG_4430Huh, outside you had to hold on to your hair, with all the wind… The funny silly thing about Londoners though, is that they warm up the cafés and restaurants outside to such a temperature that you can (sometimes have to!) take your coat off! Midwinter! We even had to ask them to put the heat down, several times, as it was simply too hot to handle.

And inside, those Brits keep the heating so low that all the time I spent in my hotel room was spent in bed, strictly under a feather blanket. Two feather blankets, actually.

IMG_4440*

IMG_4457

Bags, bags, authentic vintage bags in pristine condition… Rare. I’ve hunted beaded vintage bags from France for years but never found so many, such flawless ones (and actually vintage/antique instead of Far Eastern reproductions!).  The rosa leather one is mine and the knitted one with  silver decoration from the 20’s became mine, with a very reasonable price. The beaded one was soooooo lovely and cute, every pearl attached… But not my color.

IMG_4541

For the treasure hunt I wore Jasmin Santanen Paris velvet trousers, Zara lace shirt, long burgundy gloves by Designer’s Remix, bag by Carroll France and a fur by Ajatar.

Hope you enjoyed this little walk down Portobello road with me!

Thank you for reading.

You make me happy, just by being there ♥.

at the old stables called the Horse’s Head… was an underground (literally!) showroom….

IMG_4298

Is my name on the list? Please? Pretty please..

IMG_4302

Yeyyyyy… In I am!

IMG_4161

Welcomed by La Bella Kristina Viirpalu.

You can never imagine how tired I am, she whispeared in my ear. The lady sure hides it well.

IMG_4170

And I must say, this was by and far the funkyest stables I’ve ever visited… A horsegirl at heart, I know what I’m talking about.

IMG_4184

There were pirates in attendance. Edgy cool Londoners. DJ’s and live music.

IMG_4183

The loveliest Ene Post in the world, below. We keep on bumping into each other in funny places.

IMG_4179

Ene has two things I secretly crave for. A wardrobe full of Kristina’s dreams (such as this coat – uhhhhhh I want it!) AND natural Titian red curls. I’ve always, since I was knee-high, wanted flaming red curls all the way to the waist… Something… considerably more unique than my Scandinavian blondness. And my only sad attempt towards Freeflowing Wild Woman hair ended up in such a terrible shade of a carrot that I actually had to leave the country till it faded. My ex-fiance actually comforted me by saying that I should head someplace where everybody is dark… There any blonde would just be – yet another blonde.

Even when somewhat orange.

And this story is true.

Nuff said.

IMG_4206

This lady caught my eye, and imagination. There was something so sad in her eyes, even if she was smiling.

Surrounded by her pirate entourage, she was served and treated like a princess. Maybe she was somebody’s princess.

IMG_4229

*

IMG_4224

And then, the dresses of the exhibition. Wedding dresses from Kristina this time, with a modern twist. Incredible craftsmanship.

IMG_4268

The event was courtesy of press and PR d’oro – thank you once more Sissi!

IMG_4274

This dress below Kristina actually designed for me. I asked her to create something in the theme and style of my favorite decade, the 1920’s and as usual, she wowed me.

Open all the way to the waist at the back, this hand-knitted fine lacy dress has ribbons in old rosa on the hips and across the back… She even made two slip dresses to go with it, one in old rosa and another in soft white. So I can alter it according to mood.

Miaowwwwww.

IMG_4299

Jaha, I perhaps should have combed my hair that day… Instead of having the look you have when you leave for the airport at 4 AM. Grrrrrrr lazy me.

And to kick the Fashion Week off with style – the International Fashion Showcase 2013 Award went to this very exhibition! Congratulations Kristina, Kristian, Karl & Kadri!!!

With our Dr. Hauschka goodiebags, happy & exhausted, we exited to the night of London. IMG_4309

And, kröhm, if I’m honest, I again opted for my bed instead of partying… I think I must be the most boring travel companion in history.

IMG_4306 xxx

Good night my crazy wildatheart untamed buzzing thumping sweet London.

You never cease to amaze me.

And that’s why you always keep me coming back for more.

Sara Kietzmann was also photographing the FreshEst exhibition and happened to capture me in full swing. Thank you Sara!

Finally, I’m back!

I’m so sorry for not having kept you posted on my London experiences. There are so many photos, so many stories to share… But you see. The wi-fi at the hotel didn’t work.

And sometimes a girl is just too busy living her adventure, as opposed to tracking down netcafes to write about it.

But here I am, back in my own bed, wrapped in my down feather duvet, with my LadyBohemia PC on my lap. Where to begin…

Yes. With this photo from Kristina Viirpalu and FreshEst’s award winning exhibition at Horse’s Head in Soho.

It was our first night in London. And I was soooooo happy, so much in my element, that I was flying.

… here I come!

Afternoon tea at a historic hotel frequented by Oscar Wilde, theatre, opera or musical, the Portobello market…

I absolutely will experience all that, with every sense of my body.

In addition to the beauty extravaganza that is the Fashion Week.

London, take me. I’m ready.
