some people wanted to know what I wore for the show…
my new Kristina Viirpalu classy cool, rock romantic lace & leather dress – a unique piece from her a/w Black collection. Wolford stockings, Chanel satin bag. Awful, heavy, ugly camera bag.

Sahara Ali set the tone for the night… Sexy & gorgeous.
Niina Backman flaunted her incredible physique – there’s something… superhuman about her. How can a woman with 3 children look like this?’
I surely can’t.With just the two.

How often do you have a world class fashion designer design an individual, unique gown, based on your hopes, dreams, measurements and personal style?
Never, unless you’re Julia Roberts. Until today.
Kristina Viirpalu was here.
I’ll show you my inspiration for the dress we planned with Kristina a little later.
But as of today, of the (also unique) dresses available, this was my favorite. What say you?
This mermaid shape… Soooo difficult to find one that is actually flattering. This gorgeous piece of art was.
The tulle skirt under the crochet dress didn’t actually belong to it, but made a rather divine effect. I loved it just so.
D’Oro Press and Pr had invited some ladies who are looking for something special to wear for the President’s independence day reception – to choose a dress, or have one personally designed for them by Kristina.
Well well, unfortunately I haven’t quite caught Niinistö’s eye yet, but Kristina designed a dreamy piece for me regardless… Based on the 20’s era that I so much admire, in cream and old rosa. MmmmmMmm…

My inspiration for The Dress came from this picture that I’ve snapped from an earlier KV Couture fashion show – the dress on the right was a dream of mine… And sold in 5 seconds, on that very evening.
By coincidence, I’d just worn a dress by Kristina at the Férrer / Funky Lady fashion show two nights earlier… I’ll show you that little number soon… It’s just perfect, short with uneven hemline, all black lace, a couple of leather flowers, adorned with black beads.
So nice it was to see Kristina again! Not only is she magically talented, she simply is the nicest person imaginable.
The blessings of being a blogger… You get to meet the most inspiring people.
Sometimes they even give you a hug.
See you soon again my friend! Have a safe trip home ♥.

Get ready to hold your breaths…

Action it was, behind the scenes or on stage.
Welcome!
This was just a little taste of things to come, as I’m struggling with my thousand photos, and then some…
But I’ll drop in one more curiosity for you. Can you guess who was the musical guest of the night?
Two hints. French chansons. National ballet.
You got it. The one and only, a real original.
Jorma.
Stay tuned for a cavalcade of photos… Now I have to get a little sleep as tomorrow is another important day.
So it’s kisses and good night,
from LadyBohemia

This week has been crazy but wonderfully so. Every day, every evening filled with exciting events, interesting people, new experiences, beauty, fashion… champagne.
It was here, at a dinner hosted by the Champagne Association of Finland, that we got to hear a brilliant speech, bubbling with sparkling anecdotes… Such as that Marilyn described champagne as the air she breathes… How appropriate for a lady whose PJ’s consisted of Chanel perfume.
More on that event, on the fashion show celebrating 20 years in business of Férrer and Funky Lady, on the visit of Kristina Viirpalu, a two day photoshoot of LadyBohemia, my debut in a national newspaper… Very soon.
Kisses to you all my dear readers!!!

Ain’t nothing better… Than a little sharing and soul searching with a dear friend over a cup of coffee.
That’s what we did with on a particularly windy and rainy day last week, at Strindbergs’.

Dress Férrer, boots Italian, fishnet stockings from London. Bag vintage Cartier, burgundy fake fur collar H&M.

And even if it wasn’t, really, at least the world felt like a little bit better a place when we were through with it.

…the name in the making of our little photo shoot, with the wonderful, mind-blowingly unique Ms. Lagus. Make-up artist, former fashion editor, dreamy photographer. Who was inspired by my little LadyBohemia and invited me to come and play with her camera.
Next time, we’ll head of to the old Porvoo with her little car… I’ll show you what we come up with, then…

Here I was wearing the most beautiful cashmere coat by Max Mara (Pipsa’s own), velvet burgundy trousers by Jasmin Santanen Paris; the deep rouge bag is vintage Cartier find from a French brocante market.
As far as the Tramp is concerned… Well, we didn’t find him… I guess he was busy elsewhere last Tuesday.
Let’s see if he’ll be visiting Porvoo next week!

Give me a thousand kisses, then a hundred.
Then, another thousand, and a second hundred.
Then, yet another thousand, and a hundred.
Then, when we have counted up many thousands,
Let us shake the abacus, so that no one may know the number, and become jealous when they see
How many kisses we have shared.
-Catullus

Once upon a time, I was in love with a man who was my soulmate. When I was 18.
It was a long time ago, recessiontime. Jobs were hard to come by; he had occasional bartender gigs at night, I worked as a sales girl behind the counter at the Hakaniemi market. I had to be at work at 6 AM, he came home from his job at 4 AM. We barely saw each other awake. There was no money. We had no furniture, just a mattress on the floor of our 17 square meter flat.. When we ate soup, sitting on the floor, we ate from the same plate as we only had one.
It sounds unreal now, but very real it was.
Sometimes I had to walk to work as we didn’t have money for the tram ticket – had I been busted without a ticket our fragile economy would have collapsed. My tiny salary was rather systematically late and I had to constantly argue to get the correct sum. My employer deducted taxes from the salary he paid me, in cash of course, but never declared the taxes to the government. There were no receipts or salary slips from those jobs. We couldn’t afford to protest.
Regardless of all the struggle, in my mind, we were happy. Laughed and loved, a lot. Were sure not only of each other, but of life. That everything would work out, get better.
There’s particularly one thing about that era that I remember vividly. My love had only one pair of shoes and there was a large hole on the sole of the other one. Most inconvenient with the snow and slit of autumn Finland. Although we never tried to eat the shoe, there was something Chaplinesque about it. Romantic even, retrospectively.
We were saving money for a new pair of shoes. It was a priority above everything else as winter was approaching. And he came to the market one especially rainy and grey Tuesday morning – he’d oftentimes drop by before going to work, to give me a kiss.
This time, he’d bought me the most beautiful bouquet of flowers.
Why, I asked, remember the shoes! Because it’s Tuesday, he said.
This was one of the many lessons I learned from my love story. Sometimes they are necessary, no matter what.
Monday kisses. Tuesday flowers.
