It’s difficult to write when you’re speechless and breathless.

Last night was one of those nights that originally inspired me to start writing LadyBohemia. I discovered something, magical, that I’d like to share with you.

At Tango Frostbite festival, celebrating 100 years of Argentinian Tango in Finland.

Argentinian tango.

A world of it’s own it is… With etiquette full of poise, grace and passion.

The men don’t actually ask you to dance, with words that is. They invite with a look, oftentimes from across the room. Without a word, the couple move to each other and for that moment in time, everything else disappears. The woman follows the man’s moves with total intensity, oftentimes with eyes closed, as they create their own universe, improvised and incredible.

I can imagine this to take place in a smoky club in Buenos Aires, but my little Helsinki… Thank you my darling hometown, for once again blowing my mind wider open.

A beautiful dancer Katja sat down next to me and explained. “During the dance, you need to feel that this is the only man in the world, the love of your life.”

Oh it was perfection.

My friend Sissi, who actually had the idea to introduce us to Argentinian Tango, now has a new hobby. She has enrolled on tango classes.

I’m not quite sure if I’d dare… But must admit, I’d want to.

Tango can save your life, whispered Katja in my ear.

I believe her.

I had a tip worth gold by a friend (thanks Lea!) that there was a play featuring no other but Ralph Fiennes, at the Royal Haymarket Theatre at London’s West End. Playing Shakespeare (she did specify that it was quite comprehensible for us ordinary folk..), no less! How perfect.

I must say I was rather determined not to miss the opportunity to see the English Patient / Amon Goeth from Schindler’s list live and in action… He’s one of my all-time favorite actors, one that brings shivers down my spine with every single performance, ever.

But the play had just finished.

Uh, talk about a letdown.

To console myself I decided to go and see a musical instead. The Lion King, at the legendary Lyceum theatre. Well, as everyone says, it was brilliant. Wonderful music, touching storyline, the little boy playing Simba so talented and cute that you want to cry.

There was only one drawback I can think of.

Ralph Fiennes was not in it.

So however unfairly, my heart wasn’t in it either.

Well, I just managed to teach myself a little lesson. If your heart is set on something, never settle. Anything else always feels less.

An absolute must, Liberty is the oldest department store in London, one that I shamefully discovered only 25 years after my first visit to London. Packed with old-school charm and character, an antique jewellery collection, wooden floorboards, rare fragrances, flowers, royally gorgeous stationary, divine vintage boutiques (yes, several!), original staircases dating some 100 years back… If a department store can have soul, Liberty’s is the one.

I instantly fell in love with this beautifully beaded 1920’s Charleston dress… An original piece, yet in such pristine condition that you could just hop dancing on tables wearing it…

Immediately after, I found myself unfaithfully drawn to this spring green emerald vintage Valentino gown… Luckily, it wasn’t my color as it wasn’t quite my budget either.

IMG_4324Swooooooon.

IMG_4322A summer garden party, anyone?

IMG_4323My little stroll in the vintage boutiques got worse and worse – well better and better actually. I could just see myself strutting towards the beach somewhere in the South of France next summer in these soft, comfortable, pretty little kitten heels below… Stopping for a glass of rosé on the way perhaps… Grrrrrrr. Again, it was budgetary matters that separated me and these rosa sandals from our summer romance.

IMG_4329I’ve always wanted a bedside table made of old suitcases piled on top of each other. This one would have been perfect on my bedside… Packed with all those books on my to-be-read list, waiting for bedtime…

IMG_4331And… For the Modern Vintage Bride. What a wow factor just shoes and gloves can create. This one’s not for me, but perfect for somebody.

IMG_4332So, my dear readers, next time when in London, don’t make the mistake of missing Liberty’s. If you’re even a little bit of a fool for rare beauties with character, it’s guaranteed to make you swoon too.

Kisses from your very own

How can I summarize the visual fireworks we experienced? Nope, I can’t.

Perhaps these photos will let you in on something exciting, enticing, inviting… A week of fun, a week of play. Something as sweet and carefree as is this picture.

IMG_4810A week of elegance it was, also.

IMG_4606

An unforgettable week of new horizons. So many things I realized, found, discovered. Around and inside myself.

IMG_4578Somerset House. Like an ancient palace, so vibrant with life. I loved this place.

And the Hippy Princesses, the Punk Ladies, the Oriental Orchids, all those fashion scouts, bloggers, journalists, tv-crews, designers… I could have sat there in Somerset House all day, just taking it all in.

IMG_4727This lady below ooooozed such effortless chic glow that all the photographers just made a run for it when she walzed in…

Did I mention the quirkyest shoes? They made a grand entrance as well.

IMG_4651London proved it… Shoewise, I’m hopelessly unfashionable.

Finally, a little something familiar..

IMG_4617Something icy cool, that’s what these ladies were..

How can I summarize this experience that was the Fashion Week? It feels like trying to put London into words. Impossible.

Something out of boundaries. New, raw, edgy, even rough. Eversoslightly punk. Experimental, somewhat out there.

Bold, rather than pretty.

It’s so easy to breathe in London. Everything goes.

It happened to me again… Life got on the way of blogging.

There are so many fun, sweet, touching, hilarious photos and moments I’d like to share with you, starting with everything that happened during the London Fashion Week… But there has been so much going on that I find it hard to keep up with my life.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining…  That’s just the say I love it.

So, this gorgeous red veil leads to the entrance of the Valentino exhibition at Somerset House, the heart of the Fashion Week.

Today’s actually the last chance to catch this exhibition! How fitting.

So, anybody in London… A little tip for the day… Go see this one, and bring a good book to entertain you in the queue :).
