…was spent yesterday at the recordings of the new Voice of Finland season.

There is the cutest photo in the world of my son in That Chair but as I don’t post recognizable photos of children on the net you’re stuck with me… Sorry!

My son and I always watched the show together so it was a really sweet opportunity to see and feel all the excitement firsthand, together. My son is a little bit shy by nature – and the situation rather overwhelming – so he didn’t quite dare to go and speak to his idols. Just being a few meters away from Lauri Tähkä, whose songs he always belts out to me, was a real adventure for him.

And interesting it was, really. A lot of banter between the judges for the best singers, behind the scenes jokes, proposed wrestling matches…

The coaches took so much time to talk to their fans in the audience, to boost the spirits of the viewers, sign autographs, pose for fan photos… I think they did their best to make the full audience feel welcome. What touched me is that the whole show, the making of it as well as what you see on tv, is made with a warm and kind spirit.

Whereas I deeply resent all those reality shows where people are ridiculed and put down and the more they collapse in front of their judges (and at worst, these are young kids), the better tv it makes. I’d never take my son to watch something like that in the making.

This show really is different. The praise is genuine, criticism given constructively and softly, the age of the contestant considered. The young ones not chosen were told not to feel down, their time will come…

There was one song that especially brought shivers down my spine… I suppose we’re not allowed to say much, but something by Queen will definitely rock you next spring.

And one more thing simply must be mentioned… Paula Koivuniemi’s shoes. Just wait till you see the shine of those crystals – they too will rock you ladies, this I can promise 🙂 . I do believe there’s nobody else in this country who could pull off those shoes but her.

And last but not least, I found an old friend there… Anitta and I used to work together at Save the Children for 5-6 years but after that period children, work, life… just happened, so much so that we didn’t manage to meet even once. Until yesterday, when I found her there, working for the campaign for the show at Nelonen..

What a warm feeling. Even her son, after so many years, remembered me!

So happy to see how many of your dreams have come true my friend ♥.

~* outfit of a day *~

Well, today will be spent outside with the kids in the rare combination of brisk fresh weather AND the sun, wandering around the national park of Nuuksio.

But here’s an outfit of a day, anyway, as these posts are constantly most requested…One of my favorite skirts is this one, made of smooth thick silk and adorned by finest French lace, by Jasmin Santanen Paris. So sophisticated, with a cut that hugs the body perfectly (sorry, had no time for ironing..).

The cape is from  Ajatar, deep burgundy heels are by Pura Lopez, although the photos don’t do justice to the color.

last summer we toured nearby vineyards and little châteaus for wine tastings with friends who were visiting our little haven in the South of France…

my sweet friend Hanna-Maria

In this particular château they had developed a rosé bottle that resembled a perfume bottle… Beautiful. Our friends were celebrating their fourth wedding anniversary just the following day so this is the bottle we chose for them.

One of the things I most love about France is how full of history every last corner of this country is.

This little castle and vineyard was German stronghold during the Second World War. They left the owners and their staff a couple of rooms and occupied the rest. One of the survivors, a madame Romer, worked for my French family for years after the war and told how she’d stolen food from the Germans’ dog for her children so they’d survive. Even the dog was allowed so much better food than the locals of the occupied France.

Incredibly, madame Romer also hid a Jewish man from her village in the stables of the castle throughout the war, right under the noses of the German troops. She was able to steal enough food for him and provide him a safe place, but he couldn’t set a foot outside his hiding place before the country was liberated.

He survived.

my son ♥!

Before and after the war, all the children from nearby villages would come to swim in the castle’s large water tank when temperatures soared up to 40 degrees in the summertime.

Still today, some of us were tempted…

*

My kids immediately caught the photogenic vibe of the place ♥.

There’s magic everywhere… If only you have the eyes to see it.

This vineyard was one of the first places of Provence to be liberated; it was here that the first paratroopers landed from airplanes.

I still get shivers just thinking about it all.

Preparations for the annual Elle gala started well on time…

My favorite designer, Kristina Viirpalu, before the gala. Rock cool already.

Even cooler and rocker, when ready…

Kristina was wondering if maybe her dress would be too much for us Finns.

Carried with such dancer’s elegance – and figure! – no way, say I.

Sissi… Flaming curls for the hair, naturals for the face & nails.

After a some (red) thread & a needle, everybody was practically ready…

Photo Pipsa Lagus

Off we were, to the suites of Kämp Hotel. Time for a glass of champagne, some mood music and dance…

Last minute stitch…

At Kämp were also Pipsa Lagus (hiding behind the camera), Sirpa Kajo (Sirpa’s dress from France, necklace Miu Miu, borrowed from daughter Heli) and of course Sirkka Siiskonen. The primus motor of our adventures.

Only one pair of these dreamy stockings by Kristina were ever made. But she promised to have another pair made especially for me ♥

I wasn’t invited to the gala, but I was invited to join the pre-gala excitement with my friends… Such lovely ladies; such a lovely time we had..

Red hot Sissi.

Pipsa’s deep blue dress, adorned by golden beads and a chiffon hemline had been especially made for her. Perfect, such perfect look and fit.

And off for the evening everybody!

Haha, I’ve been blogged! Thank you for the compliment, Northern Charm ♥

And bytheway, look at my gorgeous new objective!

I bought it especially when during one single week, I was (well, LadyBohemia was) invited to feature this fashion show by Kristina Viirpalu, the  personal wardrobe of Sari Ihatsu from Ajatar, and the exhibition opening of Anna Gav.

Such an honor all this wonderful hulabaloo has been for my little blog, that I decided to rise to the occasion, even technologywise.

We don’t know each other very well yet, my new objective and I, but he already looks very pro,

don’t you think.

Last week, LadyBohemia got an extraordinary opportunity. To dive into the wardrobe of Sari Ihatsu, the Managing Director of Ajatar.

Sari actually presented me the most stunning jackets that she has acquired for herself during her 20 years as the head of Ajatar. And I got to choose which ones I’d photograph for LadyBohemia!

Not only is her wardrobe the most impressive I’ve ever seen, Sari was simply the loveliest, most interesting person imaginable. We had so much fun during our photoshoot… Here’s the first little look; I’ll show you all the rest as soon as  I find a moment…

I was invited to the opening of 10-years celebration of jewellery designer Anna Gav at the art gallery 4-kuus. And I honestly don’t know which impressed me more, the sweetness of Anna or her talent. I’ve owned a black beaded necklace by her for almost ten years but wearing it will be completely different, now that I associate her loveliness to it.

Anna Gav!

So many pieces were beautiful, but I (particularly) fell for this necklace:

and for the purse titled Swan Lake, below:

Anna’s exhibitions shall stay at Galleria 4-kuus on Uudenmaankatu 4-6 (Helsinki) till 26th October. A perfect little visit after your Sunday brunch tomorrow?

And that’s ALL I need in this world.
