Sometimes.

To feel perfectly happy, that is.

Just leave all thinking aside.

Today, for the first time since I fractured my foot, I was able to go to a dance class.

Oh joy.

Our brilliant teacher – incredibly vibrant, full of life, energy, laughs – really put herself out there (everytime she dances there’s a crowd of admiring men outside glass windows of the dance studio, watching, stunned) made everyone fly across the room, dance their hearts out, shake off all useless worries, all those mundane sorrows.

So exstatic I was, so engulfed by a rush of endorphins – that runner’s high – that once again I left all my stuff behind at the gym. They are starting to know me as the blonde who tends to forget her gym clothes/towels/shampoos behind whenever the class was good enough. “Mais Madame Haumont, encore?”

This was our dose of the ’80s today – we actually danced to Flashdance 🙂

And at the end it was just me against the music… And the smile on my face.

ps. hurt my foot a little bit jumping all around but not gonna tell anybody ’cause tomorrow morning I’m gonna do it again…

A few days ago we visited a Christmas antiques market in the brisk and bright sun of St. Tropez.

A very sophisticated and refined aunty Thérèse – whom I admire tremendously and who in her youth studied “les beaux-arts” at the Louvre – visited the antique fair with me. She knew the story and background of every object at the market. I hung onto every word of hers, trying to learn and capture every detail.

One of these years, I too will know something…

At this point, I only know what I like. That is these 1920’s earrings created from deep burgundy garnets, marcasites and old silver. Beautifullll…. And even though Thérèse can spot a fake from a scary distance, she accepted my find 🙂 🙂 🙂 .

We had such a lovely time. Thérèse kindly admired my taste and passion for all items worn and vintage, and I enjoyed her knowledge and expertise. Her talent, although a source of great fun, didn’t make us very popular amongst the antique market people… Thérèse was able to blow the whistle on too many hustlers there…

Still, I managed to find another pair of antique earrings to treasure:

These silver, crystal and marcasite darlings Thérèse declared unique, from the 1920’s as well.

Victory!
(Although, I would have bought them even if they were brand new…)

The last piece of advice from Thérèse was that these earrings should be worn with a little black dress, when going out for something special.

Promptly, I took them out yesterday, to Monaco. We went to see a modern rendition of the Swan Lake at the Grimaldi Forum with some friends. The tickets were a very thoughtful Christmas gift that I received, but…. Looking around I realized that Monaco truly isn’t a place for vintage. It’s for everything new, shiny, expensive, big brand names kinda place.

Me and my little treasures, my earrings and a 60’s vintage handbag borrowed from Mamie, were totally out of place amongst all the gliterrati.

Nevermind, I decided.

Elegance is an Attitude.

Right?

The lyrics are from a song so it doesn't quite translate. But the message is that we're off. For France.

is what I thought when I saw this necklace.

And that is why I wanted it for myself so much.

it is to be worn when discovering, exploring, freefalling

I got the idea of using pretty bottles as jewellery holders from one of my favorite jewellery designers, Fine van Brookly, also known as Lea. Take a look a how she does it, here.

Pretty, and even practical 🙂 .

…going down my spine…

I have great news my friends… I’ll start blogging for another publication, Helsinki in Style, – or in fact I’ve been preparing this co-operation for a while already, but didn’t want to tell anybody about it before everything was in full swing, there was material ready and the blog was looking her best…

But now, here it is, ready to be introduced to the world: http://blogit.helsinkiinstyle.fi/

..new doors opening..

Such a little step this is in the world of style, but a real leap of faith for my LadyBohemia…

Please do let me know what you think of my new baby – all feedback is valuable and most appreciated…♥

Yesteday, I had a wonderful day out discovering the beautiful Christmasy Tallinn with a very dear friend.

Because of my silly fractured foot, I haven’t stepped out of the house for what seems like eternity. So now even wild horses couldn’t have held me back from hopping around the charming old town of Tallinn with my crutches  (in elegant heels nonetheless).

Our adventure started traditionally, with me getting us lost – but very fortunately so – as we found ourselves in front of this beautiful window display.

Inside we discovered a lovely little ateljé of Tiina Talumees…

I particularly loved this elegant silvery dress, beautifully crafted from white silk petals, delicate chiffon, long strands of lace, hemline rimmed with white and silver tulle – all handmade.

They had everyhting – long 1920’s inspired necklaces in Swarowski crystals and faceted glass beads, assorted shoes AND even assorted accessorices for the shoes.

It was all too lovely.

As was this mermaid inspired skirt below, light as a breath and beautifully flowing around the body. You must imagine it without any of the black, with a little simple strapless beige tank top with a tiny lace trim… To the backdrop of the Mediterranean, or alternatively Mamie’s garden and pool… That’s how I’ll be wearing it.

Hanski my dear, she bought nothing yet paid for everything (if I would have stopped to withdraw some cash at the terminal we would have missed our boat…). And whilst all my credit cards have been cut into pieces in a rare moment of clarity, Hanski still has hers.

Hih… Due to our little arrangement Hanski thought that maybe the ladies of the boutique thought I was her mistress… Hmph. In that case, they might have felt sorry for her, for having such an expensive one… (Yes Mom, I’ve paid her back!).

Well, at least I had enough cash on me to offer my sweet friend a little dinner of scallops & champagne… Yummmmmm.

The flower market at the gate of the old town is incredible. I don’t understand how they do in in Tallinn… It’s like having all the roses of Amsterdam, right in the middle of a Christmas world.

Hanski made her one and only purchase, a bouquet of flowers for her husband who had just completed a string of shows in a theatre play.

What a lovely little outing we had.

AND thanks to my Hanski, we didn’t even miss the boat home.

~* what is happiness to you *~

There are moments when one wonders what happiness is.

Or where on earth it is hiding.

Generally I don't show pictures of my family on the internet but these are so old that no-one can even be recognized... The little silver frame has a photo of me holding my oldest son on his baptism..♥ In the large frame, there's my baby on his first birthday, and the proud big brother. I find this photo to be so powerful, so full of love that I really wanted to share it with you.

And just there… I found mine.
